I'm new to this software, but as I was adding some orders in progress and ran into this.
When I have the Build Options checklist open, and I go to edit the items in the Option list, ALL of the previously checked options get unselected?

I have also noticed when I open an order file - the total cost of the options will be in the "prices invoices and receipts" but when I go to the options page none will be selected?

I am running on a Dell laptop running Win 7 pro 64bit, if that matters.

If there is a way to not have this anomaly recur it would be great.

Pete - Your program is great but is is very guitar- centric or at least geared towards necked instruments. I build dulcimers, psalteries, hammered dulcimers, octave dulcimers and gourd banjos. Only my gourd banjos have necks, so most often your default "fill ins" don't apply to my builds. And it appears they can't be "turned off" which would be ideal. I can ignore them and handle all my variations in the "options" menu, but when I create a specification report - say for a quote - there's a pretty long list of specifications that are there, but blank which might be confusing to an inquiring customer.

If I were creating this custom for a "folk instrument" builder like myself there might be modular options options like fret patterns, radius or flat, fret pattern (traditional, evolving 11/2, 81/2 frets, chromatic) ergonomic bevels etc. Soundholes wouldn't be just "diameter" but Sun & Moon / Dolphins / Stars / hearts / Ovals etc. Hammered dulcimers might have # of courses and bridges etc.

I'm betting adding that kind of flexibility would be too challenging, but perhaps being able to turn off or disable the guitar-centric elements might be possible?

I'll of course be purchasing this in any event, as I have not seen anything like it out there, and I juggle so many options that it sometimes makes me crazy. I'm pretty sure this will help me wrestle all those variable to the ground.
Thanks for creating it....
David

David,

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for not responding earlier - I haven't been as attentive to this forum lately as I should have been.

>>When I have the Build Options checklist open, and I go to edit the items in the Option list, ALL of the previously checked options get unselected?
I have not experienced this behaviour personally and no-one else has reported it, but I'll revisit the logic to see whether I can reproduce it. In the meantime, I hope it's not a "show-stopper".

>>Your program is great but is is very guitar- centric or at least geared towards necked instruments.
You're right of course, and it's largely because my own focus is on building guitars.

>>I'm betting adding that kind of flexibility would be too challenging, but perhaps being able to turn off or disable the guitar-centric elements might be possible?
Not challenging at all in the technical sense, but with time in short supply, I can't commit to expanding the range of specifications at this time. I may be able to make improvements towards the end of the year at which point I'll message you for guidance.

Cheers
Pete

Hey Pete,
The clearing of selected options still is happening randomly... bummer.
I recently tried to create an invoice but that function doesn't seem available, unless I'm missing something.
I can generate a PDF of the specifications and price estimates, but no actual invoice, so I also can't "close out" any order, so have to deal with them always being in my order list.
Any ideas...??
Thanks,
David

Pete,
I've updated to version 1.4.0 and unfortunately the option lists are still "clearing" themselves randomly.
My only work around is to generate a Specifications PDF instantly, knowing that if I need to go make a change in the options, much of the time I'll have to re-enter all of them again.
I'm running the program on a Dell Inspiron 1750 with Windows 7 Premium Home edition 64bit.
Also, I still can't generate invoices. With all these glitches this is getting nearly as inconvenient as my old paper based system.

Hi David

>>the option lists are still "clearing" themselves randomly
I'm sorry that you're still encountering this behaviour. As you'll appreciate, it's these random problems that are the most difficult to replicate and resolve. I'll have another look at it over the coming weekend, but ultimately, I may need a copy of your data file to work with.

>>I still can't generate invoices
Can you be more specific? At what point in the process does generation of the invoice fail? Is an error message displayed?

Regards

Well the good news is I'm able to create invoices and receipts! :~D

I'll be happy to send you my data file. I'll send it as an attachment to an email.

Sometimes the triggering event seems to be if I alter an item in the options list or just add one. The next time I open an order, all the option selections are gone. Odd the price total still shows in the line view.

If I can just work out this crazy glitch, this is a very helpful program.
